Skill 11 · Capstone

Capstone: interaction · politeness · phonology

The integration test. Each item asks you to combine two or three things you've already learned — register choice, agreement rules, verb conjugation, politeness markers, and the gap between French sound and French spelling. The capstone is harder by design: this is the work your brain does when speaking French in real time.

This skill rewards everything you've already done. There's no new grammar — only old grammar applied in tighter, faster, more realistic situations. Each item shows the tags for which prior skills it draws from. If you miss an item, the explanation will tell you exactly which earlier skill to revisit. The goal here is not perfection on the first try. The goal is to surface the integration gaps — the places where you know rule A and you know rule B, but applying them together still trips you up. Those gaps are where pre-class study is most useful.
